Continuous massage ... Why it's so important!

Although many see massage as a treat or luxury, it is a necessity that your body requires. Like our cars that require regular maintenance to ensure longevity and the best performance, we owe it to our bodies to do the same.

Everybody is different, every BODY is different. Massage therapists can give advice on a treatment designed just for you.

So how often should you come for a massage? Once a month is a very good start to maintaining a healthy well-being. Keep in mind if you are seeing your therapist for the very first time it may require more frequent visits initially before you will start to feel the benefits.

With all the demands of today, massage isn't just about managing pain. We also use massage as a way to:
*improve our immune system
*improve our sleep patterns
*improve our mental health
*improve our overall well-being

Talk to your massage therapist about the importance of continuous massage for you!

There's a reason why our hashtag is #kcHEALTHandWELLNESS

Over time, the way of living has changed drastically. The cost of living has increased causing some to work double shifts or two jobs. The demands of everyday life have been taxing on our bodies. Most/some of us have our days scheduled from 5am-10pm. For example; getting the kids to school on time, getting ourselves to work on time, hitting job deadlines, picking up the kids, getting them to sporting events/clubs, home for dinner, into the shower, off to bed....repeat. These everyday stressors of running from A-B-C-D can cause fatigue, burnout, anxiety, which can in turn lead to poor health- chronic pain for example.

We need to learn how to thrive in this world vs survive. Taking care of your health and wellness is so important. Practicing healthy habits on a daily basis to attain better physical and mental health doesn't have to take a lot of time.
5 minute meditations
podcasts on your commute
10 minute stretch and reset on your break/lunch
reading before bed
journaling
meal prepping to avoid grab and go of unhealthy food choices

If you'd like to chat and converse with your massage therapist, they're here for that. If you want silence and relaxation... that's great too! If you would like your therapist to help you plan and pace your daily activities, to help you schedule in "wellness breaks", that can be part of your treatment plan.

Let's talk about the basics of Laser Therapy

For starters, laser therapy is integrated within our physiotherapy service. Once your physiotherapist has completed their assessment and agrees that there are no contraindications for using the laser, it can be added to your treatment.

So what is laser therapy exactly and how does it work?
Laser therapy involves placing a flexible pad to the area of focus and sending in a bright red light. There are no adverse effects from using the laser.

@Bioflex “Laser Technology uses superluminous and laser diodes to treat diseased or traumatized tissue with photons. These particles of energy are selectively absorbed by the cell membrane and intracellular molecules, initiating a cascade of complex physiological reactions, leading to the restoration of normal cell structure and function."

Laser therapy is used to treat many conditions and ailments.
We can use laser to
Decrease edema and stiffness
Decrease recovery time
Increase range of motion
Improve pain to the point of complete pain relief
Decrease the risk of injury recurrence
Decrease scarring
Treat acute and chronic conditions
You will hear our physiotherapists often say that using the laser in conjunction with exercises and manual therapy is like pushing the fast forward button on the healing process.

Call our clinic to set up your physiotherapy assessment and get started! Appointments are available Monday to Friday.

Did you know that May is Menstrual Hygiene Awareness month?
We are piggy backing this month to provide education on pelvic health.
The purpose of menstrual hygiene month is to raise awareness to the challenges and hardships many menstruators experience. For some, the cost alone of hygiene products can feel overwhelming. For others, it's finding a safe space to practice good menstrual hygiene. The ideal scenario would give someone a clean private space with a sink, toilet, soap and running water. The harsh reality is, not everyone has access to these. Women in other parts of the world are not so lucky. For example, only 46% of women in Kenya have reported access to clean products and a sanitary location.

Aside from products and good hygiene, women also experience internal issues. The pain, hormonal changes, headaches, etc from monthly menstruation can be a lot to bear.

At Kneaded Care, we offer Pelvic Health Physiotherapy. Alison is able to assess and treat a client by prescribing exercises to help relax and strengthen the muscles of the pelvic floor. With time and dedication, menstrual pain and cramping can decrease in intensity.

This month, Kneaded Care wants to help our local Period Pop Up. We hosted a Mother's Day giveaway, and are making a monetary donation to the @brantfordperiodpopup to support the local pantries. At Kneaded Care, we support wellness in any way shape and form and love to give back to our community when we can.
This month, we challenge you to make a donation to The Brantford Period Pop Up. You can visit their social media platforms where they keep an up to date list of most needed items in the pantries.

If you would like to see our pelvic health physiotherapist, you can book with Alison using our 24/7 online booking system www.kneadedcare.com, or give the clinic a call (519) 757-1869.
